Summer is here, let's pack our bags and hit the road! But before you embark on that exciting adventure with your beloved pet, there are a few things you need to know. Hi Raw! is here to help you navigate the process of flying with your furry companion in Vietnam.

Currently, there are three airlines in Vietnam that allow pet transportation, namely Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, and Bamboo Airlines. These airlines have general requirements for the following factors:

Age

Pets should be at least 10 weeks old.

Weight

• Bamboo Airlines allows a maximum combined weight of 10kg for the pet and carrier.

• Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet allow a maximum combined weight of 32kg for the pet and carrier.

Health

• Pets must be in good health, free from disease, have complete vaccinations, and not have any unpleasant odors that could disturb other passengers or their belongings.

• Pregnant pets are not allowed for transportation.

Transportation restrictions

Extreme temperatures and weather conditions during transportation can sometimes affect the health of pets. Therefore, in cases of extreme heat or cold during the flight, pets may not be accepted for transportation.

Airport check-in procedures

Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport early to complete all check-in procedures before their flight. It is recommended to be at the airport at least 2 hours before the flight departure time.

PETC - Pet Transportation Service in the Cabin

The PETC (Pet Transportation in Cabin Service) is currently offered only by Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airlines.

• The fee is applied to the total weight of each pet and one pet carrier.

• The fee does not include the cost of purchasing an adjacent seat to accommodate the PETC.

• A maximum of 2 Economy Class pets and 1 Business Class pet per flight.

• The maximum weight for the pet and the cage/bag is 10kg.

• The cage/bag should be placed on the floor of the aircraft in front of the passenger's seat if its dimensions do not exceed 35cm (length) x 30cm (width) x 20cm (height).

• Passengers using the pet transportation service must bring special tools to eliminate odors and clean up the pet's feces and urine if transporting in the cabin.

• Pets should not be taken out of the cage during the flight unless they are placed in a locked lavatory for the purpose of hygiene. Cleaning should be done by the accompanying passenger. Pets are only allowed to leave the lavatory after being returned to the securely locked cage.
